Grocery Shopping at the Lake of the Ozarks

The small towns that surround the Lake of the Ozarks offer a variety of options for grocery shopping to stock your cabinets and refrigerators. Whether you are just vacationing here for a weekend or you live here full time there are good options for everyone. Depending on where you live or are staying the choices will change but in general you will be close enough to a variety of options to get fresh ingredients along with all the regular staples you are used to in bigger towns.

Starting in Osage Beach the main choices for groceries are Hy-Vee and Paul’s Supermarket. Additionally many will choose to shop at the Walmart in Osage Beach for the convenience and usually great prices. And if you happen to be at the Target there is a small grocery section with a few items that might cover you for a short vacation.

Hy-Vee in Osage Beach offers an all-you-can-eat buffet in the deli section that includes salad and fresh cut fruit, Chinese dishes, pizza, desserts and some chicken and side dishes. There is a cafeteria style seating to enjoy your food. This is a great option if you haven’t tried it before. Around $8/person with a drink you can eat as much as you like.

In Camdenton you have Save-A-Lot, Gerbes, Walmart, The Butcher Shop and Ferris Market. The Save-a-Lot is the smallest grocery store but offers low prices on the most common staples you will need. Gerbes is part of the Kroger family of stores so if you have a VIP card from one of their stores it will work here to get you the discounts without having to signup for a new one. Ferris Market is the local farmers market that is open from Spring through Fall. Here you can get some good local fresh vegetables and fruit. You might pay a bit more at Ferris but usually the quality is better than what you get at Gerbes or Walmart.  The Butcher Shop is just behind the Signal Gas Station in Camdenton off HWY 54. Here you can get all kinds of fresh cut meat, eggs, fish and cheese.

Additionally, in Camdenton on Fridays during the summer you can find a farmers market in the parking lot of the county courthouse building at the intersection of Old Hwy 5 and Hwy 54. Bring cash.

Laurie, Sunrise Beach, Eldon and the other towns have farmers markets and small grocery stores as well. We may include them in a separate article in the future. But for the most part the majority of shopping is in Osage Beach and Camdenton.
