A Camdenton favorite for breakfast and lunch

Update August 2010: Mem’s is now closed. We recommend the Wee Chef in Camdenton or Kay’s in Osage Beach as an alternative.

I love going out for breakfast. It’s a little something special and makes for a fun start to the day. Here at the Lake of the Ozarks, our family gets our morning start at Mem’s Country Cupboard every Sunday. Don’t you just love a good family tradition?

And you know, at Mem’s, it really is about family. The restaurant has been open a little over two years, named after the owner’s mother and her daughter is the assistant manager there, and our favorite server. It’s a place where it only takes a few weeks for them to know what you order and expect to get welcomed by a big friendly “Hey!” when you walk in the door. It’s just the way they do things there.

But being nice isn’t the only thing they do well. Pancakes, ah, the pancakes. One of these days I’m going to get that recipe. My husband always gets an omelette and is quite satisfied. (If you want to try your hand at some yummy pancakes at home, here’s two we’ve put our stamp of approval on: Buttermilk Pancakes and Cinnamon Bun Pancakes.)

Breakfast is served all day at Mem’s and they also offer lunch as well. They are open until 2pm daily and have an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet on the weekends. Mem’s is located on North 5 in Camdenton, maybe a mile or so off the square.

When most people are waiting for a table at Kay’s Restaurant or at On The Rise up in Osage Beach, Mem’s always has a table ready when we get there on Sunday morning.
